Nothing to fear but fear itself

Before I rambling on, please take a look at this video.

I’ve shown this video on previous post. And the end of the video, you’re supposed to take right, if you went left you’ll be heading to the bushes. This is what we at Bukit Padang named as BN Trail; and I don’t think it’s named after one of Malaysia’s political party. I remember when I was brought to this place, I couldn’t go down on this trail mainly because I’m not that skilled yet and I was afraid to fall. Even when I’ve bought myself a pair of protective shin, knee, arm and elbow guard, I still couldn’t get myself to go down this trail. I keep thinking “There is nothing to fear but fear itself”, and I think it worked. I can go down on this trail. Now on to the next video.

The first 30 seconds of this video is showing The Peak, because it is the peak of Bukit Padang. Now let me introduce you guys to Bulu Trail, if you look at timeframe 0:44 until 2:00, that’s the trail, created by rider for rider; although it doesn’t look that hard. Somehow, this trail also attracts joggers, even though warning sign was put up to warn them of speeding bicycle. Let me describe to you this particular trail. The technical part of this trail lies on the cornering, also know as switchbacks. Just picture this in your head, you have to make a turn and going down steep at the same time. A few try on this trail and I finally manage to tackle it last year. Now my new challenge is to tackle when it’s raining, when it’s all wet and slippery. I fell or rather skidded on the first turn. Going to try in again 😉 On to the next video.

This video was taken during 2009 Chinese New Year. For the past four days straight, I’ve been mountain biking like there’s no tomorrow. The objective was to tackle one of the corners in this particular trail. I’m not sure what this trail is called, but this is the trail that will be used for Downhill Competition scheduled on May 2009. Yes, it’s this year. The corner that I’m trying to master is on timeframe 1:10, it’s not a switchback, yet it’s quite slippery, it’s going downhill, and has steps. Second day of Chinese New Year I manage to tackle that corner, but I tumble down on the corner before that. Maybe because of the anticipation of the second corner. Well don’t really care, what’s important is that I manage to do it. YAY!

In both video there’s also Ricky Trail; timeframe 4:00 until 4:51 in the second video, 2:18 until 3:10 in the third video. This is my favourite trail as we are heading back down simply because it is much easier and much more fun (for me at least) to take. The other trail to take is Bengelina Trail; I’m not sure why they named it that. I’m still waiting for any of the rider to shoot this trail. This trail I also manage to conquer, metaphorically speaking. Nothing to fear but fear itself way of thinking did manage to tackle most of the obstacle there. To get you guys a clearer picture of the whole place, take a look at these photo and illustration, thanks to Google Earth and the guys over at My Gravity Riders.

  • cuci mata ja la sia tinguk video2 begini. it’ll be winter in june (on the northern hemisphere) when i decide to try it myself … but if i have the place all to myself, maaaaaybe then i’d try the trail so that if i get thrown out of the bike, there’d be no one to record those moments and upload them at YouTube or send the videos to Video Zonkers haha! But who knows..if I manage to lose 10kg then maybe I’ll try it haha!

Trails are usually named after someone does a major screw-up/bad fall ie Ricky Trail courtesy of our JKR friend Ricky and Benjelina courtesy of Ben Voo who ended up with a AngelinaJolie lip + 1 week concussion hence Ben-Jelina.
New race trail eagerly anticipating a name change…wont be long.
